Details for: Matrassteig (Weg durch den Stein)
Brief description
Description
Starting at the bridge Grein, (on the corner of Highway 119), a steep path leads onto a hill. The trail now nearly horizontally leads further along the entire side of the mountain with impressive rock crashes (the way continues under the stones) and magnificent views into the Danube valley and ends after an ascent at the Brandstetterkogel Hütte (cabin). The trail is named after Edaurd Matras (1862-1945), the President of the "Austrian tourist Club" from 1912-1939. If you like, you can get off halfway and continue to Wiesen (service stations).
