Huge e-bike tour through the Mostviertel

Discover the Mostviertel on your bike!

Discover the diversity of the Mostviertel landscape in all its glory.
You can get to know the countryside and the people in Lower Austria’s most beautiful quarter whilst enjoying six varied daily stages.

Day 1: St. Pölten - Petzenkirchen
Starting out from St. Pölten, the first day involves a flat, leisurely ride across the Roman cycle route towards Melk, in the Alpine foreland, and then onwards to Petzenkirchen, where you will reach your destination after covering a distance of approximately 50 km.

Day 2: Petzenkirchen - Ardagger
Feeling refreshed, you will then cycle at a leisurely pace on the Erlauftal Cycle Path to Pöchlarn, and then onwards along the Danube Cycle Path to Ardagger, before you cross the Most cycle route and finally the Mostbaron cycle route, reaching your destination at Schiffsmeisterhaus after covering a distance of 40 km.

Day 3: Ardagger - Waidhofen a/d Ybbs
After enjoying a relaxing night at Schiffsmeisterhaus, follow the Mostbaron cycle route to Ulmerfeld on a somewhat shorter stage (40 km). From there, continue along the Ybbstal Cycle Path towards Waidhofen a/d Ybbs. You have the afternoon to enjoy a lovely walk through the delightful old town. You will then spend the night in Waidhofen an der Ybbs.
Tip: If 40 kilometres per day isn’t quite enough for you, we recommend you take a detour to the Schmiedezentrum Ybbsitz blacksmith's centre, located 11 km away.

Day 4: Waidhofen a/d Ybbs - Lunz am See
You can expect a real highlight on the fourth day: The main 55 km long centrepiece of the Ybbstal Cycle Path to Lunz am See is built close to the water and boasts wonderful natural scenery, making it the perfect choice for cycling enthusiasts and budding ones too.

Day 5: Lunz am See - Mariazell
Day five is all about accepting challenges. Indeed, the 35 km stage from Lunz to Mariazell (which briefly includes a stunning trekking route followed by the Zellerrain-Straße road) has several metres at altitude to contend with. Following on from a downhill stage, the ride along the idyllic Erlauf River is just rewards for the climbs you have successfully negotiated. Shortly afterwards, you will then reach the day's final destination at Mariazell.
Tip: This stage runs along a local road over the Zellerrain pass summit. As an alternative to this, you can access a particularly challenging mountain bike route or, for those who enjoy a more leisurely journey, make use of the bike taxi.

Day 6: Mariazell - St. Pölten
The final stage runs from Mariazell all the way back to St. Pölten, covering nearly 80 km. There is a small climb on the Traisental Cycle Path up to the Gscheid near Kernhof, before it rolls pleasantly alongside the Traisen river.

Tip for extra night: It is worth enjoying an extra night in St. Pölten on the day you arrive or before travelling home. There are lots of (cultural) sights to enjoy in the state capital, starting from Hotel Das Alfred.

Connoisseur tip: If you still haven't had quite enough, you can travel on the Traisental Cycle Path from St. Pölten onwards to the Danube. It is well worth your while scheduling in a stop at a wine tavern in the Traisental wine region on the way to Traismauer and back (50 km).

Overview of the stages:
Day 1: St. Pölten - Petzenkirchen (approx. 50 km)
