Details for: Hochkogel-Panoramaweg

Brief description

The 24.75 km long circular trail leads from Euratsfeld onto the Hochkogel back to Euratsfeld. The Hochkogel, 700 metres high, offers a beautiful view of the Mostviertel.

Description

From the starting point you walk to Kalktstechen and there you turn left past Schleiferhub to Göttersdorf. Here begins, a charming interplay between paths, forest passages and small settlements along the ever expanding panorama. Along the way, you can observe farmers working at the fields, children playing or Sun seekers. At a slight increase the trail goes over the Engelsberg, Latzelberg and Pauxberg. Slowly, but surely the trail now comes to the Alpine pastures of the high ridge of the Hochkogelkammes.

On the beautiful panoramic hike you will definitely encounter sights of the Dürrenstein, Hochkar, Ötscher und Großem Priel summits. At the Panoramastüberl (inn) you will see a labeled board that leads us down past the Hochkogelalm (cabin) to the so-called "Almhaus". From there the trail goes past the agricultural settings to the Hinterhof (estate) and further down to Maierhof and Windischendorf. Then the path leads us on to Pöletshof and over the Seibetsberg into the Mittergafring. If you are still looking for a stop, go to the Gafringwirt, and after the short break you can hike over the Pollenberg (mountain) back to Eratsfeld.
