Details for: Triesting-Gölsental-bike path

Brief description

The 60 km long Valley of Triesting Gerichtsberg cycle path is one of the TOP cycling routes in Lower Austria and combines the Thermen-route with the Traisental-route. This bike path is a journey through changing landscapes.

It is accompanied by the sound of the river through the southern Vienna Woods, starting at Leobersdorf on initially flat paths past Hirtenberg, Berndorf and Pottenstein. Further upstream, the route rushes through the already Alpine-like scenery of Weißenbach, Altenmarkt, Kaumberg and Hainfeld to Sankt Veit an der Gölsen. In Traisen, the route links up with the Valley bicycle path.

When moving in this direction one firstly follows the Triesting (river) and then the Gölsen (river), and then one consequently follows a small section of the old "via Sacra" from Vienna to Mariazell. The transition from the Triestingtal bike path to the Gerichtsberg bicycle path runs along the Gerichtsberg. Here one overcomes more than 200 altitude meters.

"Sporting delights, cultural discoveries, cool refreshments"

Sport ambitious people have in the area around Altenmarkt challenging section and even mountain-bike trails. On the way, cultural jewels like the castle ruin Araburg or the Klein-Mariazell Basilica invite for exploration. Cool refreshments offer the many idyllic places, which invite to stay along the banks of the Valley of Triesting and Gölsen.
