Zellerrain - Halter hut on the Brach - Gemeindealpe Mitterbach in winter

Description

Starting from Zellerrain (parking lot opposite the former guesthouse), the route initially follows a forest road. Upon reaching Höchbauer, a hiking trail leads over the meadow up to the forest and further on to Brunnsteinalm, where the forest road is reached again. Following this, after about 1.5 km, you arrive at the alpine pasture 'Auf der Brach' (a managed hunter's hut in summer). Crossing from Brach to Halterriedel can be a small challenge in winter depending on the snow conditions. In return, you enjoy a wonderful view of the neighboring Ötscher. The final stage to the summit then climbs steeply in several switchbacks. Before stopping for a well-deserved snack at the Terzerhaus, take a few minutes to hike to the summit cross.
