Oktogon in Wieselburg
Popis
The Ottonian Octagon, Austria's oldest sacred building, is part of the Wieselburg parish church and was built around 990 AD. In addition to its religious function, the fortified church served as a shelter for people in dangerous situations.
Today, art treasures from 1,000 years are united in the Wieselburg parish church. The picture on the baroque high altar in the octagon shows the triumph of St. Ulrich (890-973), to whom the church is dedicated.
