Route description DUR 2: Oberbergern - Schenkenbrunn
Our DUR begins at the village barn in Oberbergern, which we leave on the left and head towards the main road. We turn right onto this and hike to the lovingly renovated chapel, where we leave the main road again and turn left. Our path takes us past the elementary school and along the fields. At the next crossroads we keep right and hike towards the Millennium Column, which we reach after crossing the main road. Here there is a magnificent view of the red roofs of Krems. Later we pass the Millennium Column and make our way to Unterbergern. At the first opportunity we turn left and steadily descend into the town center, where wine taverns invite you to rest. In Unterbergern we keep right at the main road and hike to the bus stop, where we turn left up to the church and war memorial. Gradually we reach the end of the town and our path leads us further along fields, meadows, and forests to the Ferdinandwarte junction. From here it is only a few meters to the lookout and the view makes all the effort worthwhile. Back on DUR our path continues to the Bergerner Höhe, where we keep left and now hike a few meters along the main road until we turn right into the Seeleitengraben after a tight left curve. Here we take the path on the left side of the stream and hike to the first fork, where we follow the path to the right. After about a kilometer we turn sharply left and approach a pond on the traces of the water mother. We go left past the pond and overcome the last ascent, which leads us directly to Schenkenbrunn.
