Brief description

Barrier-minimal circular route along the impressive Erlauf reservoir in Mitterbach!

Description

The route starts in Mitterbach at Erlaufsee, so traveling by Mariazellerbahn is suitable. From the station, the path initially follows along the federal road to the edge of the village and to the nature park entrance in Mitterbach. The Erlauf reservoir tavern invites you to take a break here, and the nature park entrance fee can also be paid. The pleasant path then leads along the lakeshore, always with the crystal-clear water in view. After a short section of the path, the water adventure trail offers a nice little detour to learn more about wells, biotopes, and fish species. Caution, however, this path is a normal, narrow forest path! Before reaching the west shore of the fjord-like reservoir, the path turns off. Via the Kapschhof, a farm with a beautiful view, it leads back to the village of Mitterbach.
