Brief description

Sunny hiking route on the south slope of the Sonntagberg ridge with wonderful views into the pre-Alpine region

Description

This circular route runs partly on paved, lightly trafficked road sections and private roads, but also on unpaved forest and meadow paths with moderate to short steep inclines. For geology enthusiasts, the variety of appearances of the Sonntagberg sandstone, which can be admired along this route, is of interest. Additionally, children will enjoy the grazing goat herds and can explore the forest with its secrets while taking appropriate care of the wildlife.

Route description Panorama ridge trail: Sunnseitn round near Sonntagberg

From the starting point at the Tatzreiter carpentry, follow the paved private road towards Spielmannsöd and Groß Maierhof. Along this route, sandstone formations are repeatedly visible on the hillside side. After about 1 3/4 km, the farmstead called Groß Maierhof is reached, where goat cheese can be tasted by appointment (Fam. Fuchsluger 07442 54127). The hike then leads steeply uphill on a meadow path above the farm buildings until the Mostheurige Wagenöd of the Bogner family is reached. There is an opportunity here to stop for food and refreshment. It is also recommended to visit the sound tower, which is made of natural materials in clay construction. Inside the cool tower, various gongs can be tried, while behind the tower the scents of many native herbs can be experienced in the herb garden. After this refreshment for body and soul, the route leads towards the forest, where after 300 meters a left turn onto the Mostviertler Höhenstraße is reached, which leads back to the starting point.
