Details for: Radeln for Family - St.Pölten, route 2 to Lilienfeld

Brief description

Heading south along the bike path to Lilienfeld. Directly on the bike path is "Moti's Beach Bar" - ideal for small snacks and a quick dip in the Traisen. Return by train.

Description

The Traisen Valley bike path always leads alongside the water upstream in a southern direction out of the city. A bit of industry, but soon nature in its purest form with beautiful swimming and rest areas on the Traisen. Wilhelmsburg as a small town offers playgrounds and is worth a first longer break before it visibly becomes more alpine, the mountains getting higher, yet the bike path remains flat. In Lilienfeld, the Cistercian Abbey awaits - a place of wonder. The largest medieval monastery in Austria, for over 800 years. Impressive, for example, is the large organ with 3,288 sounding pipes - a first-class instrument for internationally significant music events.

After stopping in Lilienfeld, return comfortably with the Traisen Valley railway back to St. Pölten.
