Description
Starting from Zellerrain (parking lot opposite the former inn), the route begins comfortably along a forest road. Upon reaching Höchbauer, a hiking trail leads across the meadow up to the forest and further to Brunnsteinalm, where you reach a forest road again. Following this, after about 1.5 km, you come to the alpine pasture 'Auf der Brach' (summer-operated Halterhütte). Crossing from Brach to Halterriedel can be a small challenge in winter depending on snow conditions. However, from here you enjoy a wonderful view of the neighboring Ötscher. The last stage to the summit now leads steeply uphill in several switchbacks. Before stopping for a well-deserved snack at Terzerhaus, you should take a few more minutes to hike to the summit cross.
