Feld- und Industriebahnmuseum in Freiland
Description
Field and Industrial Railway Museum - since 1965
The museum offers visitors an overview of the development of field and industrial railways from the end of the 19th century to the present day. The collection consists of around 50 locomotives and over 180 different carriages. Visitor days are held on the museum grounds several times a year. Here, inquisitive visitors can view some of the operational vehicles on the museum's 500-metre-long demonstration track. Special exhibitions show further exhibits, pictures and dioramas on changing themes. The track system on the open-air site shows superstructure forms as they were used on the various field and industrial railroads, various switch designs, turntables and three- and four-rail tracks.
The Feld- und Industriebahnmuseum is run exclusively by volunteers who carry out all the necessary work in their free time.
