Fishing in Waidhofen an der Ybbs

Fishing

Description

The Ybbs offers fishermen excellent water quality and a variety of opportunities.
Fishing permits can be purchased at the Ybbstaler Alpen information office, even on weekends.

The city district
In the immediate vicinity of the city and yet in the middle of nature, 2.5 km of fishing pleasure await you - for beginners and professionals. The city district concerns the left bank side (downstream) and reaches from the saddle ditch to the city weir. Allowed baits are: Flasher, fly, dead bait fish. Here you can catch brown trout, grayling or rainbow trout.

Fly fishing
The fly fishing stretch invites you to stand in the wide grayling river with your waders and serve small dry flies to delicate grayling rings. The Ybbs River is one of the few remaining waters where grayling occur naturally. This testifies to good water quality. Throughout the year, fishing on the 2.5 kilometers is allowed exclusively with the fly.
