Climbing, Lookout tower, Scenic lookout

Description

The “Kaiserin Elisabeth” observatory – the lookout tower dedicated to Empress Elisabeth – with its 18.5 metres located on Plattenberg mountain was opened in 1900 already and offers a spectacular view into the Prealps region on 750 m above sea level. Freshly renovated, the observatory is the ideal destination for family outings offering action, culture and recreation in nature. Its newest attraction is the climbing experience "Rock the Sissi".

You don’t always have to go into the mountains to get a full dose of climbing! Experienced climbers can ascend on 12 different pure-coloured routes on the 15.5 metres high walls of the Kaiserin Elisabeth observatory. A stunning view into the Mostviertel, Mühlviertel and Traunviertel regions as well as the Prealps is awaiting the diligent athletes at the top. Contact: klettern.elisabethwarte@gmx.at

Apart from the climbing experience, also numerous mountain bike and hiking routes can be found around the observatory. For those who like to take it a bit slower, the meadow next to the observatory is the ideal spot for a relaxed picknick with delicious Mostviertel treats.
