Wald Köhlerei Hochecker
Company / plant tour, Handicraft
Description
Charcoal burning is an almost forgotten craft and was therefore included in the UNESCO National Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2011.
It smokes all summer long on the farm of Johann and Theresia Hochecker in Michelbach!
They still produce real charcoal - which makes barbecue professionals go into raptures.
The charcoal burner's house was built as a modern seminar room with seating for 50 and a view of the charcoal pile so that the craft can be presented clearly and regardless of the weather.
