Oktavglocke St. Martin am Ybbsfelde

Description

The parish church of St. Martin am Ybbsfelde is home to what is probably the oldest octave bell in the world that can still be rung. It bears the inscription "O Rex Gloriae Veni Cum Pace 1200" (O King of Glory come with peace 1200). Its origin and place of origin are still unknown, but it shows the high art of bell casting at the time of the Babenbergs.
