Schloss Gurhof
Castle
Description
In terms of landscape, the Gurhof lies on a plateau above the Wachau in the Dunkelsteinerwald. It was built between 1484 and 1498 by Jörg Hasiber von Hag, Captain of Göttweig and feudal lord of Michael Count von Hardegg zu Retz, as a noble residence. Surrounded by a romantic park, the castle is home to a number of apartments for comfortable overnight stays.
The heart of the lovingly restored castle is the late baroque castle chapel, which can also be used for weddings. The facilities in the castle, such as a newly renovated ballroom with Tuscan flair, as well as the castle park and orangery with terrace, are also ideal for seminars, workshops, congresses and incentive events of all kinds.
An equestrian center is attached to the castle, where private horses can be accommodated for a fee.
