Wanderparadies Hiesberg
Description
The Hiesberg is a hiking area with a historical past. The Rogelstein and the Großer Stein are rocky relics of mighty prehistoric rock groups. The White Stone is a symbol of a 1,200-year-old custom, the Powder Tower was the powder magazine of the Melk pioneers and the Zelking ruins were once the ancestral seat of the Zelking family.
Numerous signposted hiking trails lead through the densely wooded Hiesberg. If you have enough stamina, you can even walk around the Hiesberg and the Melktal valley in one day. The 38-kilometre Hiesberg-Melktal circular trail no. 68 leads from St. Leonhard am Forst through romantic forests and along the Melk river landscape.
Tip: All hiking tours can be found on the Hiesberg hiking map, which can be ordered free of charge from Mostviertel Tourismus.
