Hiking tip for the Wetterkogel

Especially families and pleasure hikers reach the Wetterkogel summit on an easy and idyllic wooded route: first it goes 922 meters up to the Amstettner Hütte in Waidhofen an der Ybbs - even with strollers the path is easily passable. The traditional mountain hut, where 30 sleeping places are also available, is open from the end of April to the end of October. From there, an easy hiking trail leads further up to the summit, where a wooden summit cross welcomes its visitors.
Easy, but a good 3 hours long, on the other hand, is a popular circular hiking route that leads via Kleinseeberg - Hochseeberg - Wetterkogel - Hirschkogel - Amstettner Hütte - Kleinseeberg.

Good to know: The Wetterkogel is known for its "carnival coordinates". It likes to fool its guests - via a wooden sign - by stating that its highest point is 1,111 meters. In fact, however, it is 1,115 meters high according to measurements.
