Wohnhöhle Reichersdorf
Historical sites, Museum
Description
The residential cave in Reichersdorf, which lies above the vineyards on the edge of the forest, has become a popular excursion destination, offering a magnificent view of the Traisental valley as far as the Schneeberg and across the Danube to the Wagram.
The cave at the small quarry in Reichersdorf was inhabited until the First World War. Original paint remains from that time are still visible. In 2010, it was restored to its original state, with a view to preserving the remains of the old paintwork for visitors.
We recommend visiting the cave as part of a guided wine tour. The Traisental wine guides around Nußdorf ob der Traisen know a lot about the history and many a story about winegrowing in the Traisental.
