Start: From Raika Texing, at the intersection turn left towards St. Gotthard, after leaving Texing the route turns left into the Höllgraben. After “Großtexingbach” turn right to St. Gotthard, where the inn Schrittwieser and the pilgrimage church (about 200 m away) invite cyclists for a short detour. Turn left onto the country road uphill past “Holzbauer” towards Schwabeckkreuz, where cyclists have a wonderful view of the Texing valley at a covered rest area. Here the bike must be pushed for a short section!
This is also the crossing into the Pielach valley in the Tiefgraben settlement until connecting to the state road, where you turn right towards Weißenbach. In the village, the route leads left before the Pfaffenlehner tinsmith into the Klammergraben uphill again past Seestein, Himmelbauer, Haringleiten. After overcoming about 900 meters of elevation, it goes towards Plankenstein Castle. At “Ecklbauer” the Ötscher shows its most beautiful view. In the village of Plankenstein, the cyclist goes downhill and turns left passing the pilgrimage church to the castle with the climbing garden on the castle grounds. Here everyone has the opportunity to take a break, join a castle tour, or simply enjoy the castle atmosphere.
It is also interesting to know that the source of the Mank river is located in Plankenstein.
In the castle courtyard, go left downhill on the “Schlossberg” towards Hinterholz. The route follows the road back to the starting point in Texing. The inn Haselsteiner offers the possibility to end the demanding but varied route with a glass of wine and a snack.
Coming from Vienna take the A1 to the Loosdorf exit, then via Hürm, Hösing, Massendorf, and Kirnberg to Texing.
Coming from the west take the A1 to the Pöchlarn exit, B215 to Mank, then via Wies and Kirnberg to Texing.
