The scenic route up the Muckenkogel passes by fish ponds and meadows and several places to stop for refreshments.
Description
The scenic route up the Muckenkogel starts in the center of Lilienfeld at the town hall, directly on the Traisental cycle path. For warm-up, we cross the Traisen bridge, the B20 and the railway, leaving Lilienfeld Abbey (Attention: worth seeing!) on the left and passing fish ponds and meadows, we approach the local mountain of the people of Lilienfeld. Now really uphill it goes past several places to stop first to the Billensteiner snack station, then to the Lilienfeld hut, after a possible detour to the Klosteralm, we pass the top station of the lift, the transmitter on the Muckenkogel and reach after a total of about 900 meters in altitude the cozy Traisner hut on the Hinteralm.
After sufficient refreshment and enjoying some sunshine on the hut terrace, the same route leads back to the starting point.
After finishing the route, it is recommended to conclude in the cozy Salettl, sitting directly on the Traisen opposite the town hall!
