Haus der Wildnis

New worlds to experience, Outdoor adventure

This business is excellent…

Description

With a wealth of ideas and hard work, the dedicated team around Dr. Christoph Leditznig started the construction of the House of Wilderness located in Lunz am See in the fall of 2019.
The architketonically nature-oriented building, including the newly created meeting zone around the house, should not only represent an international nature competence center for scientists of all disciplines, but above all serve interested visitors as a hub and bridge to the wilderness area Dürrenstein. In addition, the online bookable guided hikes with the wilderness rangers start from here.

The Rothwald, a primeval forest protected by the namesake Albert Rothschild, was integrated in 2017 as part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage "Ancient Beech Forests and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe" and is accordingly strictly protected. In order to nevertheless be able to gain an insight into the sensitive ecosystem, interested visitors to the Haus der Wildnis museum will be able to do just that in an exciting and interactive way. The use of state-of-the-art technology and proven exhibition methods combines the classic museum visit with a (nature) experience in a class of its own. The themes of primeval forest, wilderness and fauna & flora and why the protection of these is so important are skillfully staged.

A café and bistro integrated into the house entices visitors to stay longer. The attached store offers nice souvenirs of an exciting day in the museum for sale.
