This romantic village lies on the southern edge of the Dunkelsteinerwald, not far from the B1 federal highway and the Westautobahn. The ruins of Hohenegg Castle can be seen from afar. Characteristic is the panorama that can be seen from many points in the area with views as far as the Alps. Hafnerbach presents itself as a starting point for relaxing hikes and excursions to places of interest in the immediate and more distant surroundings. Theater and opera performances, music concerts, Advent and Easter markets are held in the Hohenegg castle ruins. The 115 km long Dunkelstein circular hiking trail (653) leads through the municipal area, including over the Dunkelstein (625 m), and also to Mauer (winged altar), Schallaburg Castle, Melk Abbey and the Aggstein ruins. The local history museum shows the 7,000-year cultural history of the area. A unique feature is the memorial room for a key figure in European history, Prince Raimund von Montecuccoli, 1609 to 1680 - lord of Hohenegg Castle from 1637 to 1680. There are 7 restaurants and 2 accommodation establishments in the market town. There is a bus connection to the district town of St. Pölten, 12 km away. The post and train station is 3 km away in the market town of Prinzersdorf.
