Mostviertel - mild & wild

This Lower Austrian quarter is full of temptations.

The first thing for holidaymakers to notice is the amazing gap in Mostviertel nature: Soft hilltops along the Danube River in the north and romantic rough scenery around the pinnacles of Ötscher, Hochkar, Dürrenstein, Gippel and Göller in the south. Lower Austria’s provincial capital St. Pölten sticks out because of its well-balanced symbiosis of Baroque, Art Nouveau and modern architecture.

In the prolific Garden Eden of Mostviertel, one can taste the delights of unique perries, elegant wines, the typical sheep milk cheese as well as delicacies made from Cornelian cherries, rose hips and chequer trees. Lots of wild wonders of the Mostviertel wish to be explored: Make your way along deep canyons and bubbling waterfalls, discover the beauty of two primeval forests and three nature parks and get to know the living history of blacksmiths, charcoal makers and woodcutters.
