Goldegg Castle, visible from afar, is located on the southeastern edge of the Dunkelsteinerwald. Even from a distance, one can make out the stately structure with its ballroom, chapel, and landscaped gardens. The estate also includes several hectares of farmland and forest. North of the castle lies a castle garden that serves as a prime example of Lower Austrian garden design. The Goldegger Brook and other waterways necessitated the construction of several bridges.

There is a small pond with an island. Notable buildings include a wooden gazebo with an elliptical floor plan and a shingle roof dating from around 1800, and a two-story glasshouse with an iron support structure from around 1900. The Castello restaurant caters to guests’ culinary needs at the castle; throughout the summer, it is also frequented by many golfers from the St. Pölten Golf Club, located just in front of the castle.

The castle’s elevated location offers a wonderful view of the Lower Austrian Alpine foothills. This view can also be enjoyed from the restaurant’s castle terrace.
