Hiking tour Starting from Scheibbs Town Hall Square
Quite a challenging hike from Scheibbs (Rathausplatz) to the Ginselhöhe and back.
Quite a challenging hike from Scheibbs (Rathausplatz) to the Ginselhöhe and back.
We leave the Rathausplatz via the Rathausstiege in the direction of the Erlauf. We cross Hauptstrasse and Gaminger Strasse until we cross the river via the wooden "Sandsteg" footbridge and continue along the left bank of the Erlauf. We stroll upstream along the Erlauf promenade through a shady avenue of chestnut trees. We pass the Töpper and Kardinal-Franz-König bridges. Where the Erlaufpromenade finally joins the Strudenweg, we turn right and, after crossing the Erlauftalbahn, reach the Lampelsberg goods road. From here we walk steadily uphill until we finally reach the Ödbauer farm via the houses Schacher and Goganz. Now our route continues - always keeping to the left - via Sturmlehen and the Karl-Riedl-Steig to the Ginselhöhe (cross).
Sturdy footwear is recommended

This point-to-point route can easily be turned into a circular route - we follow the Höhenrundwanderweg (HRWW) from Ginselhöhe and after a good stretch turn left into the Lueggraben. At Neustift, we enter a more densely populated area again, here we follow the Erlauf river downstream back to Scheibbs.
