INFO: From April 17 - 30, 2026, hiking trail no. 17 from the Tagles parking lot to the Herrenalm (Taglesschlucht) is closed due to logging work. The alternative route of the hiking trail leads along the forest road.
The alpine hut on the Herrenalm, which dates back to the Middle Ages, is sheltered in a small basin that can only be reached on foot. As a reward, a rustic, stone-built alpine hut with a steep hipped roof awaits with drinks and a simple snack. This hike is also suitable for families with active children - fairytale forest, along streams and this alpine hut - a fantastic experience.

Ascent along the left bank of the Taglesbach (700m) up to the signpost "Herrenalm/Dürrenstein", then a short stretch on a forest road, again turning right into the mixed forest until a paved wide path leads somewhat steeper uphill in switchbacks. As soon as this path leads into a gorge-like narrowing, with a waterfall on the left and the rock face of the Kleinreiser Kogel on the right, it becomes especially charming. Until then, nothing else can be heard but the rustling of the stream and the rustling of the leaves under our feet. After the waterfall, you reach the alpine hut Herrenalm (1327m) and further on the Leonhardikreuz (1406m).
Return by the same route through the Taglesgraben.

Exit the A1 at Ybbs - Erlauftal federal road B25 to Grubberg - at the junction turn onto B71 to Langau/Maierhöfen - towards Holzhüttenboden
If you climb a bit higher to the Leonhardikreuz (patron saint of alpine cattle and rural concerns), you enjoy impressive views.
