Circular hike via Grünau, Marienwasserfall and Lake Erlaufsee
The Mariazellerland circular hiking trail is an easy and varied hike around the pilgrimage site of Mariazell. The route runs along easily accessible paths through meadows, forest sections and quiet residential areas of Grünau. On the way, there is a short detour to the Marienwasserfall, which cascades over a rock face into a natural pool and is one of the most atmospheric natural sites in the area.
The trail continues to Lake Erlaufsee, whose clear water and surrounding mountain landscape form the highlight of the tour. In summer, the lake is ideal for a rest or cooling off and offers numerous viewpoints along the shore. The route then leads back to Mariazell via St. Sebastian and the promenade. The tour is particularly suitable for pleasure-oriented hikers and families due to the low difference in altitude and the good composition of the path. The combination of nature, water and proximity to the town makes the hike a relaxed discovery tour through the Mariazell region.
