Head south along the cycle path to Lilienfeld. "Moti's Strandbar" is located directly on the cycle path - ideal for snacks and a quick dip in the Traisen. Return by train.

Always alongside the water, the Traisental cycle route leads upstream in a southerly direction out of the city. A little bit of industry, but soon pure nature again with beautiful bathing and resting places along the Traisen. The small town of Wilhelmsburg offers playgrounds and is worth a first longer break before the route visibly becomes more alpine, the mountains higher and higher, but the cycle path remains flat. In Lilienfeld, the Cistercian monastery, the largest medieval monastery in Austria for over 800 years, is a place of wonder. The large organ, for example, with its 3288 resounding pipes is impressive - a first-class instrument for internationally important musical events.

After a stop for refreshments in Lilienfeld, you can take the Traisentalbahn back to St. Pölten in comfort.

We recommend checking the timetables using the ÖBB route planner Scotty before any journey by public transport!
