For the most part, it leads along existing paths and incorporates the two characteristic landscapes of the Ybbstal valley and the hilly landscape as well as the nature reserve and the village center of Kematen. A varied hiking route in beautiful surroundings awaits visitors.
The family-friendly hiking trail is divided into a total of six stations. The starting point, and therefore the first stop, is the municipal office in Kematen an der Ybbs. The varied hike leads through the characteristic Ybbstal valley with its many beautiful places directly on the Ybbs and over gently rolling hills with impressive views of the Sonntagberg. After around 25 minutes, you will be rewarded with the delicate scent of the magnificent blooming snow roses (station 2), thousands of which line the edge of the path between December and March.
There used to be numerous mills along the Ybbs. One of them was the Grubmühle (Station 3). Today, unfortunately, you can only see the last remnants, which bear witness to a long past.
Continue in the direction of Abetzdorf to station 4, which is now just over halfway! When you reach Abetzdorf, you can stop for a bite to eat and a Mostviertel drink: Bachler-Wirt and Ferdl-Cider are looking forward to your visit.
Well fortified, you return to the legendary time of the Mostviertel legends. According to the legend, the turning stone on the Kreuzstöcklberg (Station 5) has been dragged away several times and
and set up in distant places. Each time, however, it is said to have been carried back to its old location by a mysterious force. Today, the stone is waiting to be turned on its axis with a single swing. Whoever manages this is said to be lucky!
The route also includes the mysterious story of the heather girl in Kröllendorf, who freed the lady of Kröllendorf Castle in the pitch dark.
The last part of the hike leads back to Kematen to the 33-metre-high stone bridge (station 6), which is the highest stone bridge in Lower Austria.

A1 motorway exit Amstetten West - B1 towards Ybbs - at the 2nd roundabout take the 2nd exit - B 121 to Kematen/Ybbs
Take the trains of the Westbahn to Amstetten station - there transfer to the regional train towards Kleinreifling - to Hilm, from there take the bus to Kematen/Ybbs
On hot days, at the 3rd station - the natural pool, you can take a dive into the cool waters of the Ybbs and refresh yourself. The natural pool offers a designated area for swimming (only for experienced swimmers), a diving tower, a non-swimmer bay, various bathing facilities, sanitary, changing and buffet buildings, a water play "splash" with different play equipment, a beach volleyball court, and much more.
At the 5th station - the Bachlerhof, you are welcome guests. Always following the motto "good food and good cider". At Ferdl-Most, you also have the opportunity to take home some delicacies from their own agricultural production through farm sales.
