From the market square, turn right across from the fire station onto the path along the Keerbach (August Mitterböck Promenade). After about 200 m, you’ll reach the junction with the Rotenbach Valley. Turn right here onto the paved road, passing the Enkbauern farm, until, after about 200 m, a gravel road leading uphill to the Grillenbühel branches off to the right. On the Grillenbühel, a large, flat meadow, continue west on a dirt road until you reach the edge of the forest. Now follow the wide forest path (a cross-country ski trail in winter), which descends gently to the Stadlhof, and continue along the paved Unrechttraisental road back to the village. Total time: (

How to reach us:

• From the west, north, and western Vienna:

Take the A 1 to St. Pölten, then the B 20 to Freiland; turn left there and continue on the B 214 for another 20 km.

• From the east and southern Vienna:

Take the A 23 to the Mayerling exit, then head toward Hainfeld, over the Hafnerberg onto the B 18 to Traisen, then continue toward Mariazell until you reach Freiland, where you turn left and continue on the B 214 for another 20 km.

• from the south:

Either drive to Mariazell and then take the B 21 for 30 km to St. Aegyd, or take the A 2 to Wöllersdorf and then the B 21 for another 61 km to St. Aegyd.

Take the train from St. Pölten to Lilienfeld, and from there take the bus to St. Aegyd, or take the bus directly from St. Pölten to St. Aegyd
