Starting from the center of Ertl, hike along Grestenwaldstraße until you cross the Urlbach after about 2 km. Continue on to the Hubertus Chapel, where you’ll then walk along a gently ascending gravel road through the Grestenwald forest. The hike leads along a meadow path past the newly renovated Binder Chapel. Then continue on Neustifter-Straße toward Ertl. The route now branches off to the right and continues along a forest trail through the Weidenberg Forest. On the right, after a steeply ascending section of the trail, you’ll reach the source of the Url. The route leads through a pasture to Haus Bischofberg, then continues along the Freithofberg municipal road, past the “Schwarze Kuchl” (unfortunately no longer open to the public) to the Kindslehen junction. A steeply descending section of the trail leads on to the Großau Inn. Follow the partially completed walking and biking trail along the Kohlenbach stream back to the starting point.

Coming from Vienna: Take the A1 highway to the Oed exit, then follow the signs toward Wolfsbach;

Coming from Salzburg / Linz: Take the A1 highway and exit at Stadt Haag; turn right toward Stadt Haag, then take the next left toward St. Peter/Au, and follow the signs to Ertl

Take the Westbahn train to Seitenstetten–St. Peter/Au, then take the bus to Ertl
