Along the Wechtl circular hiking trail, there is a wealth of flora and fauna to discover in the dry and semi-dry grassland: from emerald lizards to checkerboard butterflies, from sunflower to pasqueflower; but you can also find inhabitants of the forest on the forest nature trail. This easy and well-marked hiking trail leads via Venusberg, past the mountain chapel to Reutbühel. It then continues via Waldlesberg to the Traisen and on to the center of Traismauer.
From the train station, the hiking trail leads southward uphill, past the mountain chapel to the “Vier Eichen” and on to Reutbühel (350 m). The return route goes through Waldlesberg, down Weingasse to Taisen, where you cross the “Steinernen Steg” to the left bank of the Traisen; from there, follow the embankment path northward to reach your destination—Traismauer’s town center. From there, it’s just a few minutes’ walk back to the train station.
