At the charterhouse, the path crosses the B25 and the Mitterau Creek and leads along Kartäuserstraße, past some terraced houses and a forester's house, slightly uphill to the Umbergsiedlung settlement. Just before the fire station, the path turns right into the forest and reaches the road maintenance depot in Schleierfallstraße after about 20 minutes. Here turn left and at the Großgaming house right over meadows to the beginning of the Eber valley. The first part leads on the Gaminger circular hiking trail up to Schwarzenbergstraße. From here a steep ascent begins through the Eber valley up to the alpine meadows near the former Gföhlhaus. Continue to the forest road at the Gföhl saddle. Along the road to another small saddle, then immediately turn right and climb steeply on an old path up the slope to the alpine meadow above the Gföhleralm.

For the return route there are two options: either along the marked forest road into the Bärengraben or a steeper path with a more direct descent through the forest and then right along a forest road. Finally through the Neudeckgraben, past the Puchebner houses, to the parking lot at the former Polzberg Mill and back along the state road to the road maintenance depot and the charterhouse.
