Marktgemeinde Obritzberg-Rust

The market town of Obritzberg-Rust in the district of Sankt Pölten-Land consists of 25 villages - from Angern to Grünz to Zagging. Sociable wine taverns and wine taverns on the one hand and the gentle Mostviertel landscape on the other promise great excursions, vacations and vacations. Sights steeped in history are waiting to be discovered. And a very special themed trail invites couples in particular - but not only - to go hiking.

Obritzberg-Rust: a green community with a rich history
Obritzberg-Rust looks back on a long history: Grünz, first mentioned in a document in 777, is considered Lower Austria's oldest village. The first documented mention of Obritzberg dates back to 888, and in 1148 it was elevated to an independent parish. At the same time, "Jasomirgott" Henry II erected the Freedom Stone: this provided paid protection for the church against prosecution. The historic stone can still be seen today on the Obritzberg church hill. Also worth seeing are the Großrust St. George branch church, the Zagging chapel and the Hain vicarage from the late 18th century. In the parish church of Hain, you can admire the valuable statue of the double-sided Madonna and Child.

From the marriage path to cycling tours: hiking and cycling in Obritzberg-Rust
Austria's first marriage trail leads walkers and hikers past seven themed stations over a distance of 3.5 kilometers. The trail starts - not only for (expectant) couples, of course - at the church square in Obritzberg. Several wine cellar lanes throughout the municipality are great for easy walks with the whole family: especially those in Hain, Kleinrust-Fugging and Zagging. Those who prefer cycling to hiking can "experience" Obritzberg-Rust on many different routes. Tip: The municipality is also on the family-friendly Fladnitztal cycle route - which connects the Danube and Traisental cycle routes.
