Kalvarienbergweg

Sturdy hiking boots, rain gear, plenty of drinks and snacks, and a hiking map of the Dunkelsteinerwald.

The starting point for this circular hiking trail is the Aggsbach-Dorf municipal office. From there, cross the bridge and turn left onto the Promenadenweg, passing behind the old hammer mill on your way to the Carthusian monastery. It’s worth taking a moment to visit the church and the newly landscaped Carthusian garden. We pass the Carthusian monastery and walk a few steps along the road until we reach the start of the Way of the Cross. Following the Way of the Cross, we now climb up to Kalvarienberg. The exertions of the climb are forgotten by the time you reach the summit. From here, you’ll enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of Aggsbach-Dorf.

From the top of Kalvarienberg, the trail leads us back down into the Mitterbachgraben, where we turn left. Following the forest trail, we soon re-enter the village area before arriving back at the starting point.

Free parking is available at the municipal office in Aggsbach-Dorf.
