Hiking tour Starting from Aggsbach-Dorf Municipal Office
Sturdy hiking boots, rain gear, plenty of drinks and snacks, and a hiking map of the Dunkelsteinerwald.
This circular hiking trail starts at the municipal office in Aggsbach-Dorf and follows the sidewalk for a short distance, past the Kellerhaus toward the town center and on toward the Aggsbach Charterhouse. At the turnoff to the Haidn Inn just before the bridge, we turn left, and just before reaching the inn, the trail veers right across the so-called “Hartl,” branching left toward the transmitter. From the transmitter, the trail leads back over the Luftberg. It’s definitely worth taking the short detour to the Luftberg lookout point (2 min), as from there you can see into the Danube Valley and all the way to Melk. Back on the trail, we follow the gently downhill dirt road and turn right after the wildlife enclosure. Passing the Kellerhaus, we arrive back at the municipal office.
Free parking is available at the municipal office in Aggsbach-Dorf.
