A trail for connoisseurs: experience nature, history and breathtaking views
The starting point of the 9.5-kilometre circular hike is Seitenstetten Benedictine Abbey. From here, the trail heads south - past the mysterious Franzosenwald forest, where an artistically forged cross commemorates the fallen soldiers of the Napoleonic Wars.
The trail continues slightly uphill to the Sidlosberg (460 m). Once at the top, a picturesque view opens up over the Seitenstetten market town. Continue down into a lovely valley - past meadows and fields on the right, through the forest you now reach Trefflingtal, where you reach a bench with a wonderful view of Trefflingtal and St. Michael/Br.
Keep left here and follow the Ederrücken goods road to the Kummerlehen chapel (496 m). There you can take a short break - with a wonderful view:
To the north, the view extends as far as the Danube and far into the hilly Mühlviertel.
To the south, the panorama opens up over the Stiftswald forest and the idyllic villages of St. Michael with the Hubertus Chapel and Kürnberg with the Elisabethwarte.
Continue straight ahead - past the Glanegg fire station - for approx. 1.2 km to the next crossroads. The path continues straight ahead, past the Gansberg and Orth farmhouses, until you reach the chapel of the Krondorfer family (Orth), which is dedicated to the Holy Family. Immediately afterwards, the "Lammerhuberblick" invites you to take a short break - here a magnificent panorama opens up to the east and north.
From now on, the trail slowly descends again. The path leads through small forests, down to the main road, left to the Schintinger Chapel and finally via the Dachsbach settlement back towards Seitenstetten Abbey, where the circular hike comes to an end.

Start at the Benedictine Abbey in Seitenstetten—head south past the abbey parking lot toward the Franzosenwald—continue straight ahead—through the forest to the Schmid farmhouse on the hill—turn left at the house and follow the path - The path goes downhill—turn right onto the meadow path through the forest to the Ederrücken farm road—turn left—follow the farm road uphill for about 1 km—from the Kummerlehen Chapel, follow the farm road eastward, past the Glanegg fire station
At the next intersection, you’ll rejoin the main route—continue straight ahead, past the “Gansberg” farmhouse—continue straight to the Orth farmhouse—continue straight to the chapel and the Lammerhuberblick—follow the road downhill through the forest to the state highway - Turn left toward the Schintinger Chapel – continue straight through the Dachsbach settlement – turn left uphill to the starting point at the Seitenstetten Benedictine Abbey

From Vienna: Take the A1 (Westautobahn) to the Amstetten exit. The route to Seitenstetten is well signposted
From Salzburg: Take the A1 to the Stadt Haag exit. From there, follow the signs to Seitenstetten.
You can travel by train and bus; for more information, visit www.oebb.at and www.vor.at. The best way to get there is to take the train to the St. Peter/Au station and then take the regional bus to Seitenstetten.
