The municipality of Bergland was formed in 1968 from the merger of six cadastral municipalities, with the name being derived from the two largest. (RatzenBERG and LANDfriedstetten)
Bergland is characterized by its harmonious nature, where forests alternate with meadows and fields and villages and settlements are nestled in between. Individual square farmsteads, which are typical of the Mostviertel, can also be found in Bergland. Along the Erlauf, which flows through Bergland, there are many recreational areas.
