Nußdorf/Traisen
The village enjoys a favorable climate at the foot of a ridge planted with vineyards and orchards. Nußdorf is the starting point for many hiking and cycling trails to traditional destinations such as the Maria Elend pilgrimage chapel, the Wetterkreuz pilgrimage church, the viewpoint on the Parapluiberg or the Reichersdorfer Wohnhöhle cave. The most famous Excursion destinations is the Prehistoric Museum with its landmark, the life-size replica of a mammoth. The permanent exhibition displays important archaeological finds from 30,000 years of cultural history in the Traisental. In the Gothic parish church, you can see the remains of wandering paintings, old guild signs on vault keystones, Romanesque masonry from the first church and a walled-in Roman gravestone.
