Zelking-Matzleinsdorf

The municipality of Zelking-Matzleinsdorf in the district of Melk stretches along the Hiesberg and Melk rivers to the Danube. In addition to Matzleinsdorf and Zelking, the municipality also includes the cadastral communities of Bergern-Maierhöfen, Frainingau and Mannersdorf bei Zelking. Matzleinsdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1117, but the area was inhabited much earlier, as archaeological finds from Roman times prove. Today, the area presents itself as a relaxed vacation and excursion destination - with wonderful hiking trails and cozy inns.

Zelking: Welcome to a hiker's paradise!
The wooded hiking area on the Hiesberg is an experience for both adult and little hikers: with wobbly stone relics along the way - and the Zelking ruins as a popular excursion destination. The adventurous castle ruins on the slope of the Hiesberg were first mentioned in 1100. It fell into disrepair at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, ancient remains of the walls can still be visited.
