From there, a wealth of opportunities opens up for scenic hikes, leisurely walks and varied summit treks. Sweeping panoramic views, alpine landscapes and a well-developed network of trails make both starting points ideal destinations for an enjoyable time in the mountains.
The Großer Ötscher double chairlift takes you comfortably from Lackenhof up to theÖtscherschutzhaus at 1,418 metres above sea level. From the summit station, there are impressive views and a variety of hiking options. A popular route takes you via the Hüttenkogel and the Weiße Mäuerl to the 1,893-metre-high summit of the Ötscher in around two hours. Shorter walks, such as those to the panoramic telescope and the iron Ötscher bear, also start right at the summit station.

The Hochkarbahn takes keen walkers comfortably up to 1,770 metres above sea level on its four-seater chairlift. The Geischlägerhaus, near the summit station, is an ideal starting point for short and longer hikes through the alpine landscape. From here, trails lead, amongst other destinations, to the 1,808-metre-high summit of the Hochkar, as well as a variety of circular walks
