Wellness & Relaxation

in the Ybbstal Alps

Outside, crisp winter air and snow-capped mountains; inside, soothing warmth: in the Ybbstal Alps, a winter’s day can be wonderfully combined with a relaxing break.

Not every winter’s day has to be spent on the slopes or up in the mountains. Sometimes the exact opposite is what’s called for: a few hours in warm water, a long session in the sauna or a massage where time is of no consequence. The Ybbstal Salt Baths, the Emotion Life Centre and the Gaming Indoor Swimming Pool all offer the perfect opportunities for this. Those looking for a special challenge, on the other hand, can experience the cold side of winter with a guided ice bath.

Warmth that does you good

Simply step into the warm water and leave winter behind. At the Ybbstaler Solebad in Göstling an der Ybbs, pleasantly warm saltwater pools, bubble loungers and an outdoor adventure pool invite you to relax. Those who prefer to stay active can swim laps in the sports pool, whilst younger visitors explore the slide and the children’s area.

In the sauna area, a Swiss stone pine sauna, crystal sauna, aromatic steam bath and panoramic sauna, amongst other facilities, provide cosy warmth. In between, there’s time to rest and take in the view of the surrounding mountain landscape.

Some time out just for yourself

A massage after a long winter’s day? Or simply taking some time out just for yourself? The Emotion Life Centre in Göstling an der Ybbs is directly connected to the Ybbstaler Solebad and offers a wide range of ways to pamper your body and mind.

The range of options extends from classic massages and specialised wellness massages to beauty treatments, pedicures and soothing body wraps. A particularly handy feature is that the combined wellness packages allow you to combine a visit to the Solebad with a massage.

Tip: It’s best to book massage appointments in advance.

Swimming and having a sauna

Swim a few leisurely lengths, then pop into the sauna and round off the day in a relaxed manner: the Gaming Indoor Swimming Pool is the place to go for anyone who likes to keep warm in winter.

The swimming pool, with a water temperature of 30 degrees, is perfect for a dip or a swim. Those looking for a bit more warmth can head to the sauna area, which features a classic sauna, a bio-herbal sauna, a steam room and an infrared cabin. Two relaxation rooms provide a place to take a break in between.

The indoor swimming pool is open from October to March, making it particularly worth a visit during the colder months.

Straight in at the deep end

Anyone wishing to experience the refreshing side of winter can venture into the cold water for a dip. Whether in the River Ybbs or Lake Lunz – the winter landscape provides a special backdrop for this.

Important: Ice bathing should only be undertaken with proper preparation, never alone, and under safe conditions. The intense cold stimulus is not suitable for everyone.

Winter days to suit your every whim

A morning in the snow and an afternoon in warm water? A whole day in the sauna? Or perhaps a daring plunge into the cold water?
In the Ybbstal Alps, every winter’s day can be different. The main thing is that there’s still time to enjoy yourself.
